Leaving Light Footprints – Responsibility at The Lodge
High above the treetops, where forest meets sky and the view stretches for miles across the rolling landscape of Skåne, The Lodge is more than a place for relaxation – it’s a place of responsibility.
Responsibility for the nature that surrounds us, for the people we work with, and for the future we all share.
Our commitment to sustainability is integrated into everything we do – from spa and cuisine to housekeeping and long-term strategy.
We align our efforts with the UN’s Agenda 2030 and the Global Goals, focusing especially on Goals 3, 8, 12 and 13 – areas where we, as a hotel and spa, can make the greatest impact.
Our Sustainability Goals – in Practice
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
We promote health and balance through restorative spa experiences, nourishing food, and a caring, safe workplace.
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
We provide secure employment, development opportunities and a workplace culture built on respect, kindness and long-term vision.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
We actively reduce food waste, choose suppliers with clear sustainability standards, and encourage conscious choices among our guests.
Goal 13: Climate Action
We monitor and reduce our climate footprint through smarter energy use, responsible purchasing, improved waste management and fewer transports.
Our Focus Areas
Economic Responsibility
A stable economy forms the foundation for long-term investments in sustainable solutions. Through responsible business development we create the resources needed to continuously improve both environmental and workplace performance.
Social Responsibility
We provide fair working conditions and opportunities for both permanent and seasonal staff. Many young people in the region take their first step into working life here. We offer housing for seasonal employees, live our values in everyday decisions, and collaborate closely with carefully selected local producers and partners.
Environmental Responsibility
We work systematically to reduce our environmental impact:
- Energy efficiency: Target to reduce energy use by 10% within three years.
- Water conservation: Target to reduce water consumption by 15% within two years.
- Food waste: Target to reduce food waste by 10% within two years.
- Organic & local sourcing: Target to reach 30% within two years.
- Waste management: We sort, recycle and compost, working in partnership with local producers.
We use products from L:A Bruket – a Swedish brand whose skincare and haircare products are COSMOS certified, meeting high standards for organic content, natural ingredients and sustainable production throughout their entire life cycle.
We use no disposable slippers – instead, all spa slippers are reused and carefully disinfected between every guest, reducing waste and resource use without compromising hygiene or comfort.
Our coffee comes from Compass Kafferosteri – a local roastery with a strong focus on sustainability, traceability and fair trade throughout the supply chain. Their dedication to transparency and long-term relationships with farmers aligns perfectly with our own values.
