About the hotel
The Lodge is a romantic spa hotel located near Malmö and Lund, on top of Romeleåsen. We offer an unbeatable view of the Skåne rolling countryside.
From Malmö and Lund, it won’t take you more than half an hour to arrive. To relax, enjoy good food, or a spa, together with the amazing scenery surrounding Romeleåsen, is easily done!
Main Lodge
The first thing that meets you when you arrive, is The Main Lodge. Our reception desk as well as our restaurant are to be found here, as well as the cozy lounge, with its bar and large porch. The fireplace, the cast iron stoves, and the special New England atmosphere, have created a most relaxed and soothing ambience.
The Treetop Lodge
When you walk into our beautiful courtyard, which has a wooden decking, you will also find The Treetop Lodge, with twelve large rooms, one suite and one of our Vermont conference rooms. All with a great view of the rolling landscape below us.
The Cabins
There are also nine cabins (small chalets) spread over the greenery, connected to the rest of the area, with illuminated wooden paths. We have recently updated the interior with new wallpapers and textiles from the Lexington Company Autumn Collection.

Our Rooms
Perched atop Romeleåsen, one of the highest elevations in Skåne at 167 meters above sea level, The Lodge offers 22 double rooms and a total of 44 beds – all rooms at The Lodge sit high above the treetops. The Treetop Lodge features 12 double rooms and a suite, each boasting breathtaking views of the rolling Skåne landscape to the west. Additionally, there are nine Lexington Cabins (individual houses redesigned with Lexington wallpapers & textiles), three of which are completely detached, while the remaining six are paired in twos, sharing a quaint veranda between them. All cabins are nestled amid lush greenery, connected to the main facilities by illuminated wooden walkways. All rooms at The Lodge meet the same high standards, decorated in a New England style – each with its own color scheme. All rooms feature twin beds with separate mattresses, except the suite & cabin number 18 which include a double bed with a 1.60 cm mattress.

At The Treetop Lodge, you’ll stay high above the treetops with impressive views over the scenic Skåne landscape. Our 12 double rooms, decorated in classic New England style, are spacious and comfortable, around 25 sqm in size, and designed to offer you a relaxing experience. Each room has a private bathroom, desk, a comfortable armchair or rocking chair, and a wardrobe for your belongings. All rooms are equipped with divisible double beds with separate mattresses. The CabinsThe Cabins – your own little hideaway▾
Our nine Cabins are cozy, secluded hideaways with nature just a step away, inspired by the charming New England-style cabins on the American East Coast. Three of them stand independently, while the remaining six are paired two-by-two, with a welcoming veranda in between – ideal for enjoying your morning coffee or unwinding in the Adirondack chair outside. All Cabins are connected to the rest of the hotel by softly lit wooden pathways. Each Cabin offers the same high standard, but with its own unique theme and atmosphere. All come with a private bathroom and toilet, though they are slightly smaller than the rooms in The Treetop Lodge. Welcome to a Cabin Less Ordinary!
The SuiteThe Treetop Lodge – The Suite▾
At the very top of The Treetop Lodge, you’ll find our most exclusive room – The Suite. With approximately 35 square meters of space and an impressive four-meter-high ceiling, this suite truly stands out. From the stunning bay window by the bed, you wake up to breathtaking views of the Skåne landscape. The Suite is the only room featuring both a bathtub and a shower, uniquely positioned in the center of the room for an experience beyond the ordinary. The Story of The Lodge
SINCE 1933 • SOME STORIES COME FULL CIRCLE▾
In 1933, the Gyllenkrok family of Björnstorps & Svenstorps Estate built a hunting lodge on Väderkullen, the second-highest point of the Romeleåsen ridge.
They named it Romelestugan. With its turf roof, one large room and a small kitchen, it soon became a beloved destination for hikers and coffee-thirsty locals. People came for the view and stayed for the atmosphere – and the place began writing its own story.
Many years later, three entrepreneurs found their way up here. Henrik Holmqvist, Anders Holmqvist and Mikael Goldner worked with hot air balloons, and when they followed the Whitbread Round The World Yacht Race in 1997/98, the dream of a hotel of their own was born – a place where the journey itself would be part of the experience.
When it was time to make the dream come true, they knocked on Nils Gyllenkrok’s door. In 2003 they took over Romelestugan, and inspired by New England and the lodges around Aspen, they spent three years building a hotel where the American East Coast meets the warmth of the Rockies – from local materials, by local craftsmen. A piece of the old Romelestugan lives on to this day, preserved in the restaurant floor as a reminder of where it all began.
But the story didn’t stop there.
Over the past fourteen years, Camilla Persson, Commercial Manager, and Tove Gejde, Hotel Manager, have gradually taken over the operation and today lead the award-winning The Lodge & Honulele Spa in full. Together with their team, they have seen the business grow from 20 to more than 75 team members.
In 2026, Axel Gyllenkrok, son of Nils, brought the place back to the family – and together with Tove and Camilla, the family is now writing its next chapter. And so Romelestugan, known today as The Lodge, was back in the family’s hands, more than ninety years after the first hunting lodge was built on Väderkullen. Like all great stories, it feels as though the finest chapters are still to come.

- Food waste: Target to reduce food waste by 10% within two years.
- Organic & local sourcing: Target to reach 30% within two years.
- Waste management: We sort, recycle and compost, working in partnership with local producers.
We use products from L:A Bruket – a Swedish brand whose skincare and haircare products are COSMOS certified, meeting high standards for organic content, natural ingredients and sustainable production throughout their entire life cycle.
We use no disposable slippers – instead, all spa slippers are reused and carefully disinfected between every guest, reducing waste and resource use without compromising hygiene or comfort.
Our coffee comes from Compass Kafferosteri – a local roastery with a strong focus on sustainability, traceability and fair trade throughout the supply chain. Their dedication to transparency and long-term relationships with farmers aligns perfectly with our own values.
